Deleting your account, and everything we hold.

Your account in the app

Choosing Delete your account removes your sign-in record and your profile row: your first name, your consent stamps, and all four About-you fields — “Where you are”, “What you’re here for”, “Love, and the lack of it”, and “Your story”. Your blocks go with it, and so do any sittings you scheduled.

Nothing is soft-deleted. There is no closed-but-kept state and no copy set aside.

The cost is that there is no undo: come back later and the account is empty. To delete by email instead, write to privacy@tembral.com. You do not have to say why.

Only what you wrote about yourself

You do not have to close the account to take those four fields back.

Open the field on your own screen and blank it. Blanking overwrites what was there, and no part of the product asks why a field is empty. It is also how you withdraw the separate consent you gave.

The cost is that we cannot put it back. No earlier version is kept.

The tembral.com list, which is a different list

Deleting your app account does not reach it. That surprise is the reason this page exists.

The list is the sign-up on this website. Its row holds your first name, your email address, and when you consented.

To leave, use the unsubscribe link at the foot of any email we send, or write to privacy@tembral.com. That marks the row so the list cannot mail you again. The row stays.

If you want the row deleted outright rather than quiet, say so and we delete it.

Leaving the list does not close your app account either. If you want both, say both.

If you signed up and never confirmed, the rule is thirty days.

What is only on your phone

Reflections, check-ins, parts, the lines you kept, the people you chose. There is nothing to request, because we never had it.

None of it is sent anywhere, and deleting the app deletes all of it. Your people keeps your choice on the phone; no contact is transmitted.

And the cost, in the same breath: change phones, reinstall, or clear the app’s storage and it is gone. There is no backup.

What deletion reaches, and when

The row is gone from the live system at once. It is gone everywhere once our database provider’s backup window has passed.

We will not write “deleted immediately”, because it would not be true. Ask us what the window currently is.

Two things deletion does not reach

Nothing said in a circle needs deleting, because nothing was ever written down. There is no recording, no transcript and no notes.

Erasure reaches a record. It does not reach a memory.

If a man in a circle with you read what you wrote before you blanked it, deleting the row does not take it out of his head.

Mail we have already sent

The company that sends our mail holds the content of a message for forty-five days, and that cannot be shortened on the plan we are on.

So a mail sent to you in the last forty-five days still exists there after your account is gone.

How long we take, and what we may ask you

One month is the legal limit and it is the promise. It is usually much faster.

The law allows two further months where a request is genuinely complicated; we would tell you inside the first month and why. It costs nothing.

We may ask you to confirm that you are the person whose data it is. Handing your data to somebody claiming to be you is the worse of the two failures.

Object to a use. There is no switch in the app to turn usage measurement off today.

Withdrawing consent.

Blank the field, or write to us. What was done before stays lawful.
